The Trustee selection process is an ongoing exercise aimed at continually identifying strategic Board needs and inviting committed candidates with applicable skills and expertise to serve.
The Governance Committee is responsible for identifying and cultivating capable nominees for the Board of Trustees. The Governance Committee regularly meets with candidates to explore their interest and availability. Candidates are nominated annually to the Executive Committee for consideration and are then vetted into a final slate which is presented to the full Board for approval by the end of the school year.
Trustee terms are consistent with our school fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), and a typical Board term is 3 years. Trustees often serve 2 consecutive terms.
Typical channels for service include all major community volunteer roles at MMS: Parents’ Association Executive Committee and volunteers, Annual Fund Stewards, Gala Chairs, Room Parents, and Board of Trustee Committee members.
Trustees have demonstrated a commitment to MMS and a willingness to donate time and energy to accomplishing the strategic mission of the Board.
