Welcome.

Dear Parent,

At Marin Montessori School our admissions process is designed to give you a variety of opportunities to understand the wonder of Montessori education and to determine if we are the community where your child and family can blossom and thrive.

I encourage you to learn as much as possible about our programs. Call me, email me and, most important, attend our events that will give you the opportunity to experience Montessori education first hand. When it is the time to make your decision, you will feel confident that you have made the right choice for your child.

Your son or daughter will love learning, feel valued, and be an active contributor to the school community. Choosing Montessori will provide your child with all he or she will need to lead a joyful and meaningful life.

I look forward to introducing your family to our community. I hope to hear from you soon.

Warm regards,
Jane Calbreath
Interim Director of Admissions

Admissions Process

1. Submit an Application

Fill out an application and return it to MMS no later than January 30, 2012. If you are applying for the Elementary or Junior High program you must also complete and submit two student recommendation forms and a request for transcripts form by the same date.

2. Attend One of Our Open Houses

Come attend an open house - it's a wonderful chance for prospective parents to meet the faculty and staff in person. Open houses are scheduled on a Saturday in October and January, and are a required part of the admissions process.

3. Take an Admissions Tour

This is your chance to see current students and faculty in action. Tours are scheduled weekday mornings from October through February. Contact Pamela, Marin Montessori School's secretary, at 924-5388, extension 0, to schedule a tour. Prospective parents only please. To be eligible for a family or classroom visit (see below) you must first take an admissions tour.

4. Have a Family or Classroom Visit

Parents who have completed all three earlier steps in the admissions process become eligible for a family visit (Toddler/Primary) or a classroom visit (Elementary/Junior High). This will be an opportunity for your child to interact with the teachers and the materials in the classroom.

Based on the number of available openings, family or classroom visits are scheduled in January, February and March. We regret that not all families may receive a visit due to limited openings after re-enrollment.

5. Respond to Status Notification

Application acceptances and wait pool notifications are mailed out in March. Upon receiving your notification, you will have a limited number of days to communicate your decision to MMS.

  • Come join us for an afternoon of discovery at our October 15, 2011 or January 21, 2012 Open Houses, from 2:00-4:00PM.
  • Hear details about our admissions process and meet members of our community.
  • Teacher presentations in the classrooms will help you to understand what makes the learning process at Marin Montessori so deeply engaging for children of all ages.
  • Explore the classrooms and see students’ work that demonstrates the innovative thinking occurring here every day.
  • Listen to the experiences of a faculty-parent panel to hear first hand about our school community and our Toddler through Adolescent programs.

Marin Montessori School offers Tuition Assistance

Marin Montessori School attempts to provide Tuition Assistance to any family experiencing a financial hardship that renders them unable to pay the full tuition. Families requesting Tuition Assistance must apply on the School and Student Services website. For current MMS families, applications are due November 27, 2011. For families new to MMS, the Tuition Assistance application is due on January 30. Click here for online application information.

Tuition Assistance Award Letters are sent with Re-Enrollment Agreements for returning families, or with the Acceptance Letter for new families.

Marin Montessori School uses the services of School and Student Services (SSS), which processes each Tuition Assistance application on an impartial basis to determine the financial need of the family. The Tuition Assistance Committee considers all applicants and makes awards based on the Tuition Policy Statement and the amount of funding available.

Accordingly, Marin Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, national and/or ethnic origin in the admissions process, its educational policies, programs, and activities, tuition assistance, or employment.
